In the heart of Europe, only a few kilometres from France, on the border of the Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate our stud for thoroughbred horses is located.
Since the middle of the last century, Family Volz is growing riding horses mainly for the police and military. In the year 1982, the first thoroughbred mare came to the stud. Since 1986 we exclusively raise thoroughbreds.
The Ohlerweiherhof is an ideal place for breeding of thoroughbred due to the landscaped, climatic and geographic conditions as well as the intensive care.
For us, raising thoroughbreds is more than a job, we are living and working with great passion according this principle.
Mews: a lot of space, light and air
Our stables with 150 large boxes dispose of a large air volume, which ensures an excellent climate. Almost all boxes are equipped with indoor and outdoor windows.
Paddocks: Feedlot is not like feedlot
The cattle county of almost 120 hectares are fixed and securely fenced and you will find there horses and cattle in turn. The strict feedlot management of our stud contains a regular dunging and a systematic idle position of the land.
Feeding: latest feeding plans
The basis feed hay and oat comes form the own integrated land cultivation. The feeding plans with additional mixed fodder are made individually after the latest knowledge of horse feeding for each horse group.
Training facilities: For best preparation
We dispose of excellent conditions in order to be prepared for the training due to a horse walker, a lunging ring and a presentation ring, a sand track of 1.400 m and a mountain track with an all-weather underground located on the edge of a forest.
Care: a lot of health and sense of well-being
Daily control, regular hoof care and general health care are part of our every day life. The "Tierärztliche Klinik" in Altforweiler and the "Clinique Véteriaire du Moulin" in Truchtersheim ensure the best care for the horses.
